Residential Development & Conversion of a Semi-Detached Villa, Lambeth, London
The proposal involves the conversion and redevelopment of an existing semi-detached villa to create five high-quality self-contained residential flats. The scheme has been carefully developed to maximise the potential of the existing property while maintaining a sympathetic architectural relationship with the surrounding buildings and established residential character.
The development provides a contemporary approach to multi-unit residential accommodation, with each apartment designed to maximise natural light, functionality and quality of living. Open-plan living spaces respond to modern lifestyles, creating flexible interiors with strong connections between living, dining and kitchen areas.
At loft level, the high ceilings and exposed pitched roof structure create a strong sense of volume and spaciousness, adding architectural character while making efficient use of the available accommodation. The design carefully balances the creation of additional residential floor area with generous internal spaces and high-quality living environments.
Bedrooms are predominantly positioned towards the rear of the property, providing quieter and more private accommodation with views towards the lush landscaped green corridor. This arrangement creates a clear distinction between the more open, social living spaces and the intimate private areas of each home.
The project demonstrates P+P Architects’ expertise in residential development, property conversion and the creation of high-quality multi-unit housing in London. Through careful planning, spatial optimisation and considered architectural design, the scheme transforms an existing residential property into five well-designed homes, demonstrating how underutilised properties can be successfully redeveloped to provide additional housing while responding sensitively to their surrounding context.
